We support teams and organizations

develop & maintain cultures of wellness

Our Mission

Village Resiliency provides a landing & launching place for communities seeking to develop and maintain healthy environments that are centered in equity.

We offer guidance, education, and ongoing support as you develop trauma-informed and anti-oppressive environments. Our approach blends trauma-informed principles, antiracist theology, and current trends in neurobiology to support individual and organizational transformation.

Whether you are working within trauma-impacted settings, deepening your commitments to equity, or attending seminars for personal learning, our services will equip you with the vital tools needed to increase your effectiveness while centering wellness.

Our Services Include

  • Hosting Affinity

We plan & facilitate gatherings based on the social identities and needs of your team. Affinity spaces support mental health, build individual and communal resilience, & aids in the recruitment and retention of a diverse staff.

  • Seminars & Workshops

Our workshops & seminars will equip you with the tools needed to increase effectiveness, navigate trauma impacted settings, and maintain wellness. We offer a variety of topics and are able to customize workshops based upon your unique need.

  • Equity & Wellness Coaching

Our coaching services are designed to support teams, organizations and leaders in developing, maintaining or course correcting company culture. Services can range from general consultation, short term goal identification, or long-term targeted support.

  • For The Village

Our Village Offerings are free pop-up community events, offered throughout the year based upon the real-time current needs that are present within the communities we serve. and how to cultivate
anti-racist environments.

  • Amazing Presentation

"As a vice principal, I'm always looking for the most engaging Professional Development for my staff. Village Resiliency (then known as Sankofa Counseling) provided our staff with an amazing presentation around growth mindset. When reviewing the staff survey, 95% of the staff found the training to be helpful and asked for a second round. I'd definitely utilize the services of Village Resiliency in the future.”

    — Taye Spears, Vice Principal, Alice Ott Middle School (2018)

  • Truly Essential!

“The learnings from the trauma informed practices training have become a cornerstone of my youth work. Afterwards, I couldn't believe I'd gone decades in this field without learning about trauma. The facilitators bring a robust and well-rounded approach from years of experience in both mental health and education. They also center racial equity as a vital component in fully understanding the depth of trauma that is present in our society. A truly essential workshop!”

B.E. Metropolitan Family Services, Alignment Coordinator (2017)

  • Great Investment!

Michelle and Vanessa at Village Resiliency are nothing short of amazing. As facilitators for a 2-year cohort for our ministry staff, they created safe spaces in which we could all not only learn how to support youth in our ministries but also move to healthier places ourselves. Because of their warm presence and leadership styles, our times together became places in which we were able to safely discover areas in our lives that were in need of healing. Learning the science behind what happens in our bodies as we deal with trauma, as well as coping skills, was not only invaluable in our own personal lives, but also as we serve and invest in the lives of young people. Such a great investment!
